Chiropractic Adjustments
A Chiropractic Adjustment, also known as a Chiropractic manipulation, is a tremendously effective tool in addressing restricted joints and subluxations. These may be caused by acute injury, lack of movement, or just our day to day joint disfunctions. Our bodies works as a kinetic chain and each joint affects the surrounding joints both above and below the restricted area. This improper movement of joints will interfere with the movement chains of our body and can lead to pain or tissue damage. Chiropractic adjustments safely and effectively restore motion to restricted joints and normalize the movement of your body as a whole.
At Topeka Sports & Family Chiropractic we take an individualized functional approach to your particular presentation. Our clinic focuses on advanced adjustment styles that allow for your optimal comfort. At Topeka Sports & Family Chiropractic the primary method we use is from the Motion Palpation Institute. This is a biomechanically advantageous, evidence-based joint manipulation protocol. Along with techniques from the Motion Palpation Institute, we also offer motion assisted adjusting using continuous passive motion. This technique allows for comfort for both you and the doctor. An instrument assisted adjustment protocol one other technique that will be selectively used on patients that apply.
Spinal Manipulations:
Spinal manipulations are considered high-velocity, low-amplitude chiropractic adjustment within a certain range of motion. At our clinic each adjustment in directed at segmental joint fixations that are found upon assessing your situation. Each adjustment is localized and individualized to reduce subluxations and joint restrictions that have formed within your body causing your symptoms.

Extremity Adjustments:
These too are high-velocity, low-amplitude adjustments within the paraphysiological joint space to stimulate mechanoreceptors and decrease pain. Research on extremity adjusting and its benefits on extremity conditions have grown in the last 5 years. In the 2010 report: Effectiveness of manual therapies: the UK evidence report, they found that “manipulation was not only effective for acute, subacute, and chronic low back and neck pain, but also successful in treating extremity joint conditions” (Triano, John. “Effectiveness of manual therapies: the UK evidence report.” Chiropractic & Osteopathy: 3.
